Murder mystery #2 Solutions

Well it's been a long road, but finally the savage beatdown tin has a destination. A huge congrats to Jean Daigle for obliterating every little secret i had. Well done! As i'm testing testing for worlds, peruse an example of some other submissions i recieved.

Miguel's card says: It wasn't Miguel or Stu.
Only Kamiza, Kovacs, Gday, and Hoops are left.
Hoops' card says: His blog holds the key. The problem with that is, Hoops doesn't have a blog.
So, we're halfway there. It's down to Kamiza, Kovacs, and Gday.
However, referring to Hoops' card, it says "his" blog. Is it referring to Brian himself? I think not.
I think it's referring to: Gdaybloke.

He is the kidnapper.

Why? Kamiza came up with Thursday Thirteen and Gday was jealous! Jealous, I tell you! So, he set up 'March Madness' and 'Crime Lords Month' to throw everyone off! He acted like a nice guy but no! He is the kidnapper!
/crackpot theory.

-OH how i wish i had planned prizes for silliness! I did not award the prize to the first to submit the correct answer unless they had uncovered the clues to fully remove doubt, as you can see. Here's what Hero Complex wrote.

It's gotta be Chris Miller / G'daybloke.

On Kansashoops and Carlos' cards, the choice of initiative
in the flavor text is actually telling you which letters
to read in theirtexts. Kansashoops tells us that "his blog
is the key," though I'm notsure exactly what it points to.
Carlos' card tells us that "it wasn'tmiguel or stu."

The post from PrimeSuspect on VSRealms included the message
"NoGlasses" through capitalized letters, which would
eliminate Kamiza based on the picture you used. (And also
eliminate Stu again.)

Meanwhile, by typing out Kamiza's flavor text on the cell
phone helpfully provided on Chris' card, we find out that
"it wasn't kovacs."

Lastly, by shifting every letter of Walter's flavor text
four letters earlier in the alphabet, we discover that
"it wasn't brian." Though I'll admit the rest of his text
still perplexes me, as I only did the cipher a couple
minutes ago, and don't immediately see any way that it can
convert his text into anything.

But thankfully, I seem to have enough information even
without having figured out Walter's text or which blog
brian's card points metowards. 6 suspects, and 5 eliminated
(stu, miguel, brian, kovacs, and steve).
That leaves Chris Miller / G'daybloke as the killer.
-Perfect reasoning. A well thought out, logical answer. It had everything I required. And HC would have won if not for the next submission. I think you'll all agree he earned it.

I've been working on this mystery for quite some time now and i am ready to present a solution. I'll just start by giving out the solutions to the cards in the order i deciphered them.

Alright so the first card i deciphered was the kansashoops 1 drop, reading the flavor text Odds or evens? i'll be odds. Pointed to taking every odd letter of the giberish Hkiosv balcosgk hnoolwdssh tihseb kleoyg to reveal the message:
=> His blog holds the key.
it is interesting to note that only reading evens will reveal:
=>Kovacs knows his blog.

the second card was the 2 drop carlos the dwarf. again the flavor text evens or odds? il be evens points us to taking every even letter of the giberish tiht ewcaeslnlt pmhiognueesl eocr rsettu to reveal:
=> it wasn't miguel or stu .
again, reading the remaining letters yields:
=> The cellphone secret.

this last hint is almost unecessary as for the 5 drop the Kamiza, using the Chris' pin pad we where able to translate the flavor text 444 8 9 2 7777 66 666 8 55 666 888 2 222 7777 as if it were a text message:
=> it was not kovacs.

alright now the hard part and where i was stuck for a while, the 3 drop stu reads: "where was that post?" in his artist title. Reading the text as well as the hint on the card it points us to read the posts on vsrealms by PrimeSuspect. (Easily done through a simple vsrealms search) the post it makes reference to is the poem:

down arouNd the schoOlyard

how can i deny my cause?

there comes a reckoning now.

sleep cold, sleep long... just sleep.

Taking all the capital letters as they appear chronogicaly we get NO GLASSES. also we should notice that taking the first letter we get daeth to stu barnes. this last part is an important clue.

FINALLY the last card was the 0 drop Kovacs, this card took a while to decipher. the hint was in daeth lies a key. In both places death is spelled wrong (daeth). If we think to use a simple cesar shift cipher were a = e,

the flavor text Mx aewr'x Fvmer becomes => It wasn't Brian

Also in our search we find another post. dated to match when the Kovacs card was released. The posted "Once i lost something and superman told me that i should walk backwards through the day until i found it.
-a little Krypto quote for yas."

Not only does this reference that everything is in reverse but it reveales it is a cryptoquote through a play on words. (A puzzle randomly replacing the original letters for other letters, symbols or numbers.)

So starting from the last "word" and reading backwards, the reversed cryptoquote is:

his translated main text reads:

Stare into the abyss with me.
I roll death if I roll six.
But roll myself if I roll two.

this actually references the blogroll of The Rorschach's Ink Blog done by walter Kovacs. 6 being the number Stu's blog is listed and 2 referenced the second link. Since the writer is the mastermind, the killer is indicated to be g'daybloke. This could potentially have been solved long before the other cards saw the light of day, but was most definately the most difficult to crack.

Now the easy part. there are 6 people in the room. assuming the killer is in the room, its one of the 6 ppl, they are
Kovacs, Stu, Steve, Chris, Brian and Miguel.

The 2 drop eliminates Miguel and Stu, the 5 drop eliminates Kovacs, the 3 drop eliminates Steve since he was glasses(we see this on the picture of the 5 drop) Finally the 0-drop eliminates Brian. Take into context the inference made on the kovacs card and we can safely state that:

CHRIS IS THE KILLER :P

I have to say this was a very good mystery Onyx. I had my doubts since the start of who the killer was. It took quite a while to decipher all the cards to prove without reasonable doubt that Chris was the killer. Looking forward to your next murder mystery.
