How to lose with style.

So in a very public challenge i got served by Cliff Parmeter recently.

in my usual overkill style... i built cold school.
But who wants to win as a copycat?

So a few tweaks later, and with some lost hemisphere memories, i took a look at the results of Gday and my collaboration, MK/CL with a ninja swarm going to cap punisher 5 leading the way into a 6 drop hulk finish. in a format where no breakthrough and no stun exists, that hulk sure can get large. 50/50 large even! with multi swings with sleeper cells leading into a righteous anger for a trip swing for overkill city, population, you.

Alas, i really REALLY missed my holocaust burn.
So instead i ran an almost entirely MAA deck focusing on the abuse of a horsemen-xmen team-up loading up on counters, and then dropping the holocaust bomb on 5 ,6 or 7.
it was off to a decent start too, with cliff down to a measly 16 or so endurance heading into his turn 6 initiative. And forget a full-on game report. because when 6 drop wally comes to the party with 26 attack DIRECT!!! TWICE!!!

the funny part?
i was still sitting at 50 endurance at the time with a very controlling fiesta o-apoc going on at the time.

Cliff's win.

Bad beats? naaah, i'll just leave it at some great gameplay by a worthy opponent.

now i know this is short but i'll leave you all with a golden age nugget of information.

*leans close and whispers*
Shift is a payment effect.
Shifted characters gain two payment effects while Shifted.

*looks around.*

Here's your fix.

Radioactive Man, Chen Lu
MAV
Cost : 1
ATK/DEF : 2/1
At the start of your recruit step, you may gain 1 resource point. If you do, you cannot recruit characters or equipment this turn. Spend this resource point only to pay the cost of a payment power.

Unfair Advantage
MAV
Plot Twist
Play Unfair Advantage only during your recruit step and only if you control a Masters of Evil character.
If you have played no other plot twists this turn, gain 1 resource point. Spend this resource point only to pay the cost of a payment power.
You cannot play plot twists this turn.
If Unfair Advantage is in your resource row, turn it face down.

Titania, Vengeful Vixen
MAV
Cost : 5
ATK/DEF : 10/8
When you recruit Titania, if you control a Masters of Evil character, gain 1 resource point. Spend this resource point only to pay the cost of a payment power.

Absorbing Man, Carl Creel
MXM
Cost : 4
ATK/DEF : 7/7
Whenever Absorbing Man stuns a character, put a +1 ATK / +1 DEF counter on Absorbing Man.
Remove a +1 ATK / +1 DEF counter from Absorbing Man Gain 1 resource point. Spend this resource point only to pay the cost of a payment power. Use this power only once per turn and only during your recruit step.

Now GO!!! go create a deck that drops double curve every turn!

Take care guys.

*Thanks to Tim for bringing this to my attention. It's too hilarious NOT to try!

TDB and I were discussing the awesome synergy of Chen Lu and Shift... he stops you from recruiting characters, but NOT from Shifting them into play! So even if you just want to play your turn drop, you can fire his power, take the extra point, and do a quick shift-out-shift-in.

There's definitely some fun to be had there. :D

Yeah in theory, you could TECHNICALLY just hit your 1, wiff your 2, and 3, then go insane with 2 4's, then 2 5's and 2 sixes.
card draw would need to be adressed but it's technically feasable.

The downside of shift being a payment effect is that it can be Nullified... Ultimately! I guess that's the balance though. High risk = high reward!
