Playing with new Zones. My Origins block build.

With access to the first 6 sets and all peripheral sets, my first impression was to toss together something akin to the old Both Guns Blazing build since i had access to DGL, MMK, and of course the much required marvel and DC origins sets.

But in the midst of the deck planning i got a great big "Meh".

I had a functioning MAA only build i like to play, there is always that.
"Meh".

Then it occurred to me.

Ahhh the Ultimates. A toolbox disguised as a power curve. Delicious.
But before finalizing the build what do we need to watch for?
Well the origins block brings a lot to the table.
Stall. Some very signifigant rushes. Not to mention combo-lishous builds featuring the old dagger+midnight sons interaction. Typically found in stall builds, but a threat nonetheless.
MMK brings hidden rush, mkko ver1, and doom control variants are a very real threat here.

So tech to consider:
Anti-hidden
Anti-resource
Out of combat options

While i know that No Man Escapes is absolutely the BEST card for this, I went with Out of the Darkness, really for no other reason than "i forgot no man was legal for this". So shame on me i guess. Also Invisible Woman -Ultimates really REALLY can be effective for those pesky NON concealed optional equips as she tosses characters back and forth between visible and hidden. (she's also great for formation disruption too.)

however for anti resource, i ALMOST went with Have a Blast! until i saw another card in the Legal in all block formats pile. War Machine Armor really is a mouthful. but inherantly, it' burns, non-targeting stuns AND replaces a PILE of resources. Heck, ALL of em if it's equipped on your curve drop when you use it. It's only restriction? equip it to avengers or shield.

Well i think i can handle that.

My typical ultimates build is a balance of beatings and burn leading into a potential Thor burninator massacre with the Lady Deathstrike readying interaction and her substitute, it's like taking a ballista to the face.

Without lady Deathstrike in the block however, i guess Press the Attack would have to suffice. Sure it meant more likely i wouldn't be burning for over 80 on turn 7 anymore, but the occasional 40+ doesn't suck either.

Anyways, that was my thought process, I didn't even try to team the invisible woman and mr. fantastic ultimates splashes, since i could so easily get them hidden in a pinch. and beyond even that, with only a single 4 drop lacking range, 4 cover fires was an easy call.

Let's get to it. Here's the SHAFT! variant i piloted to a 6-0 for origins Block.

Ultimate Origins(60 cards)*

Characters (32)
4x Wasp, ultimates

4x Clint Barton <> Hawkeye, Ultimates
3x Invisible Woman, Ultimates

4x SHAFT! erm I mean Nick Fury, Ultimates
2x Mr. Fantastic, Ultimates

3x Natasha Romanov <> Black Widow, Ultimates
3x Hank Pym <> Giant Man, Ultimates

4x Iron Man, Ultimates

3x Captain America, Ultimates

2x Thor, Ultimates

Plot Twists (20)
2x From the darkness
2x Press the attack
4x Savage Beatdown
4x Liberation Day
4x Call in a Favor
4x Cover Fire

Locations (4)
4X The Triskelion

Equipment (4)
2x War Machine Armor
2x Ultimate Nullifier

The list is straight forward enough, but i have to admit i didn't forsee War Machine Armor singlehandedly winning as many games as it did. If i were to go back i'd add a third. And possibly a third press as well.

Anyways enjoy the list. I'll see you crazy kids soon, i'm sure.

*Edit! remembered my exact list! -enjoy!-
